NeQST Kickoff Meeting

The NeQST kickoff meeting was held on 17 and 18 November 2022 in Innsbruck, among the beautiful mountains surrounding the Inn valley. Hosted in the welcoming structure of the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI), the participants were able to meet all together for the first time and discuss the details of the planned Work Packages.
There were 18 participants, representing all 7 consortium partners and with more than 50% participation of young researchers!
An important part of the meeting was dedicated to scientific content, including tutorials, discussions, and laboratory visits. Thanks to the tutorials, the participants were able to appreciate the expertise present in the consortium, while the general discussions, carried out also during the coffee breaks and the joint meals, made it possible to establish contacts mostly among groups that previously had less direct contact.
Finally, the participants were able to visit the laboratories in Innsbruck, where the trapped-ion qudit architecture which constitutes a central focus point of the project, with strong connection to all WPs, is located.
We thank Martin Ringbauer and his team for the hospitality at the University of Innsbruck and we look forward to the next general meeting in spring 2024.
